The pied piper of the second running boom

Back in June this year, i was feeling somewhat nervous about entering a half marathon.

I asked John Hibbs if he had any hints or tips for me starting out as a runner, because i mentioned about my previous problems with knees and ankles and general lack of running skills.

John mentioned a website by John Bigham who has a nickname of The Penguin.

Known by his fans as “the Penguin” for his back-of-the-pack speed, John Bingham is the unlikely hero of the modern running boom. Overweight, uninspired, and saddled with a pack-and-a-half-a-day smoking habit Bingham found himself firmly wedged in a middle-age slump. Then, he discovered running and changed his life forever.

Once i read about John Bingham it gave me the confidence to continue with my decision to enter the Great Birmingham Run.

And so it became a reality, which i believe anyone can do the same.
