Hot and hilly. That’s how i would summarise yesterday’s Great Newham London 10K run.
You will be pleased to hear that i finished yesterday’s run and i finished under the target i set myself of 1 hour and completed in 54:46 and was 3322nd out of a field of over 10,000 people.
When i started training a few weeks ago, this was the first time i had done any form of running in over 30 years, which goes to prove: If you believe you can, you can.
All you have to do is the training and preparation.
I loved every minute of it and deliberately started at the very back of the whole crowd and had to stop for a selfie with Brendan Foster at the start and even got to hold an Olympic torch, which one guy ran the whole course with.
As you might expect there were many crazy outfits and people running for some amazing causes. Some of the outfits i saw was Wonder Woman, and someone in dog outfit, one as a Minion and another chap in full firefighter kit! Will talk more about him tomorrow.
Words cannot express my elation when i crossed the finish line and the 1,000’s of people there cheering us on. It felt amazing, even with the heat, the hills and lots of sweat!
It would be fabulous if you could make a donation to Hibbs Lupus Trust whom i was supporting for the run and you can see me below at the finish line with a Union Jack i borrowed off a nice lady at the finish line.
