For those following my run training schedule will know that I started my first training run in June this year, which was very painful to start with as I had not been running for over 30 years, and completed my first ever half marathon in October this year with an amazing time of 1 hour 45 minutes.
But did I achieve this in just the training since June this year, or was it from when I started my fitness journey in November 2011, 4 years ago?
4 years ago I was almost 13.5 stones and had a waistline of 36″. Now I am 2 stones lighter and a waist of just under 32″. That was achieved by May 2012 and have kept almost same size and weight since.
How did I achieve that?
Regular eating, 3 meals a day and regular exercise. The regular exercise was 2 spin classes a week and walking most days for about an hour. Some weekends walking for 4 hours.
Week by week, the weight was coming off and I was getting fitter.
So you could say that when I started my run training in June this year, I had got myself fit to start running as opposed to start running to get fit.
