Challenge ourselves – Preparation is key

For those of you who have been regularly reading this blog will know that i want to inspire others to be more active and have called it #55Alive.

Why? Why not!

To help inspire, i decided to challenge myself by starting to run on a regular basis and run distances that i would of thought were crazy years ago.

The most i had ever ran in the past 30 years would of been for a bus or train.

So far, since June this year, i have ran hundreds of kilometres which has included two 10k races and a half marathon.

To have completed those distances, it is all about preparation.

Preparation in following a training plan and preparing to run the distance. I run to finish.

I have now entered my first ever full marathon that will be next April 2016 in Brighton. Just completing the online form scared me. Will i be able to complete this distance? But then i remembered feeling the same way before i entered the Great Birmingham Run. It scared me, but i done it.

So i now believe, if i do my training and prepare correctly, i will complete my first full marathon.

I was reading a training plan, of which there are many to choose from and it finishes with these words for race day: Good luck! Remember: Start sensibly. Stick to your race and pace plan. You’ve done the training, you’ve prepared for this event and you are physically and psychologically ready to go the distance.

That sums it up beautifully!
